Playing at the Park

Today we got to go to McClure Park with our friend Becca and her daughter Grace. It was so much fun swinging and playing around. It got hot really quick though and it was cut short. We try to get out when we can to avoid getting cabin fever. I cherish these times right now while I'm not working. I know there won't be as many after a couple of weeks.

2 month shots and Dr. appt

Before the shots!!
After the shots. She didn't cry very long. She's a strong girl!!

So, we had the dreaded 2 month Dr. appt and shots today. Everything went pretty smoothly considering all the issues covered. Since she hasn't had a thourough check up since about 1 week old there was alot to be said. She is 11lbs and 11 oz. and in the 75th percentile with height, weight and head circumfrence. That means feedings are good and she's growing good. (yeah me!! ) The Dr. found it appalling that she isn't sleeping through the night and I told him she wakes up every 3 hours. He suggested the Baby Wise method and we're going to start it tonight. So I'll probably be getting less sleep before I get more.
He heard a murmur in her heart again so this time we're being sent to get an echocardiogram done to see whats going on. They said this is common among babies and its not a big concern. Also, he heard a "clicking" noise in her left hip when moving it so we'll have to monitor that.
He switched us to no lactose formula to reduce gassiness and fussiness with formula feedings. So far thats going pretty good. I'm still trying to breastfeed most of the time though. (as long as I can). The shots went well. She's a little fussy and more sleepy though. I'll give more updates later.

Cousins playing

Tristin's a ham, while Kayla loves to look off at a blank wall!!
Finally got both of them to look at the camera. (sort of)
I had to share this adorable picutre of Tristin with you. She gives a big smile almost on comand now days. She's so cute and always has a mischevious look on her face. I wish I could see her more.
Tristin says, "Kayla, I'll show you how to hold your head up, its easy."

Tistin can over to spend the night on Friday night at Grandma's house. That morning, I got to catch some pictures of the 2 babies playing together. Tristin was very interested in Kayla and Kayla didn't know what was going on. As you can see, Tristin was rolling over towards her and grabbing her face and attempting to kiss her all on her own doing. Kayla isn't able to move around as much so she just layed there and took it all in. It was the cutest thing ever!! I could watch that for hours. I can't wait till Kayla is able to interact with her more.

Walking on the boardwalk

Cute babies in the strollers.

So cool that sisters have girls this close in age. We can't wait till they grow up to play with each other.
Proud grandma of Kayla (2 months 1 week ) and Tristin (4 1/2 months)

This past week, Kayla and I went to visit my mom in her new house in Mt. Pleasant, TX. Mom loved having us there to have a break from cleaning and going through boxes, although I did help some. Wednesday, we met my sister Brittany and her baby, Tristin, in Shreveport to visit the Louisiana Boardwalk that has shops and restaurants outside. (alot like the Landing in Branson). I was loads of fun being with them, talking about our lives with the babies and laughing at Tristin's new acts. She's 2 1/2 months older than Kayla and always on the move. She's quite advanced for her age b/c she seems like she's always into something and very mischevious already. She's 4 1/2 months old now. These are some pics of us at the Boardwalk with our 2 babies. Some people mistake them for twins at first until they stop and see the size difference.

Cute outfit

I just had to share this cute outfit with you. She looks all grown up sometimes, but still my little baby.

Party in the crib!!

We love this surprised look. Its so sweet and inocent.

After the birthday party, we went home to clean house and hang out. We put Kayla down in her crib to play for the first time. She thouroughly enjoyed experiencing her rainforest mobile and interactive mirror. Right now she it cooing and smiling at them alot and not so much interacting with them. She can't quite reach and grab things yet, but she does realize when she accedentally hits rattles, etc. with her feet or hands. It kindof startles her and she wanders, "what was that?" Meanwhile, she is starting to smile and coo at toys and is able to entertain herself sometimes, when she's in the mood.

Party girl

I had to get a pic of the dads with their daughters. How cute!!
She looks all grown up in her pink party dress.
Kayla loved the cupcake!! (not really)

Kayla attended her first friend birthday party last Saturday. It was really fun seeing all of our friends and their babies. We have all had babies during the past 2 years and this was Hudson's 1st birthday party. Kayla got to meet all the other babies. She was good the whole time, but really not that social yet. I guess she'll learn her party manners later.

2 months old!!

I can't believe that she's already 2 months. She's really holding her head up good now when laying on her stomach. She coos and goos alot when she's happy and looks at us contently. She also lets us know in a big way what she wants and when she's not happy. I think we're getting pretty good at knowing what she wants. I took her to the doctor on her 2 month birthday b/c I thought she had a cold with some wheezing and sneezing. The doctor said she checked out good, but has a heart murmur. He wasn't too conserned about this and said it should go away within 4 months. He said her weight gain was good. She's 10lbs and 12oz. Big girl!!

Meeting baby Ethan

Wednesday went to meet baby Ethan who was born last Sunday. The family and baby seem to be doing great. This is one more of Kayla's little friends born this year. We are waiting on one more from our community group. We realized how much Kayla had grown in 2 months compared to the newborn. I'm so excited to see all of the babies grow up together.

Riding in the carrier

So, we tried to figure out how to use the carrier thing to be able to hold Kayla while doing things aroud the house. I've used it twice now when cooking and cleaning b/c she wants to be held all the time. She likes it ok. I don't think its the most comfortable thing for her, but when I get to moving she usually goes to sleep.

New Milestones

She can hold her head up now without any support. It can't stay up for a very long time, but she can do it by herself. She likes to practice holding up while laying on my chest in the mornings.

She just started trying to rollover. I don't think she knows what she's doing, but she knows she wants to go somewhere. She just tips from side to side right now, but someday she'll do the real thing then watch out, here she'll come!!

The trip

Kayla was really good on the trip there and back. She sleeps most of the time and I only had to feed her twice on the way there and once on the way back. I think she handled it better than I did. We realized how much stuff it takes to transport a baby and thought about getting a bigger SUV.

Cute pics while at Home

We want to start her singing early!! :)

4 generations
Kayla makes Papaw sleepy.
Cousins Hannah and Nicholas liked holding Kala any chance they got.

Fun at the Pool

We took Kayla swimming for her 2nd time this past week. It was nice to get in the lukewarm water and cool off from the heat for a while. Everyone thought she was so cute in her bathing suit. We covered her in sunscreen and used the floppy hat and she was pretty well protected from the sun. She really didn't mind the water and the whole pool experience. I can't wait to bring her next year when she can actually swim with floaties.
