New Milestones

She can hold her head up now without any support. It can't stay up for a very long time, but she can do it by herself. She likes to practice holding up while laying on my chest in the mornings.

She just started trying to rollover. I don't think she knows what she's doing, but she knows she wants to go somewhere. She just tips from side to side right now, but someday she'll do the real thing then watch out, here she'll come!!

The trip

Kayla was really good on the trip there and back. She sleeps most of the time and I only had to feed her twice on the way there and once on the way back. I think she handled it better than I did. We realized how much stuff it takes to transport a baby and thought about getting a bigger SUV.

Cute pics while at Home

We want to start her singing early!! :)

4 generations
Kayla makes Papaw sleepy.
Cousins Hannah and Nicholas liked holding Kala any chance they got.

Fun at the Pool

We took Kayla swimming for her 2nd time this past week. It was nice to get in the lukewarm water and cool off from the heat for a while. Everyone thought she was so cute in her bathing suit. We covered her in sunscreen and used the floppy hat and she was pretty well protected from the sun. She really didn't mind the water and the whole pool experience. I can't wait to bring her next year when she can actually swim with floaties.

A day at the zoo

We went to the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo on Tuesday 8-7-07. It was fun but very HOT!! I think the heat index that day was 112 degrees. We tried to go in the morning to avoid the hottest part of the day, but it was still very hot. Kayla didn't see much b/c she was sleeping the whole time. Most of the time when she's in her carrier she's asleep. Everyone tells me to enjoy it now b/c it won't be that way for long. Believe me, I AM.

Seeing family in Monroe

Grandma and Grandpa got to meet Kayla for the first time. They said she was "precious".
Kayla loves her Papa. She remembers the night they had together. My brother and his wife Erin saw Kalya for the first time. She barely saw them for sleeping most of the time at their house.
Papaw and Nan watching Kayla sleep. (Chad's parents)

We went to Monroe area this past week to show off baby Kayla and be with family for a full week. It was fun for people to see her and see what she can do now. Everyone was very impressed by how "good" she was and how much she slept. Really she wasn't any different than when she's at home. She did have altered eating habits though. I think she was going through a growth spurt while we were there. We started supplementing formula for when she wants more than mommy can produce at the time.

Smiling

Last Friday (Aug 3, 2007) Kayla smiled really good for the first time and I got it on camera. She likes to sit propped up on the couch to look out at everything and mommy's face. I was so excited to capture this wonderful milestone. She's just wearing a t-shirt and a diaper b/c this was her 3rd outfit for the morning b/c she spit up on all the rest and I've learned not to dress her for going out until right before we're ready to go. I think she looks cute in this look.
