Standing and the splits

She'll end up in the splits position sometimes when she gets up from the crawling position. She's not so sure what to do with those legs nowdays.
Happy girl on her 8 month birthday.
Kayla loves to stand at the ottoman in the living room. This morning she was sleepy and laying her head on it.

8 months old!!

Nan and Papaw coming to visit Kayla was lots of fun. We thank them for keeping her while we have a couple of nights out.
Kayla at the Dr's office getting a blood draw. She was very good and had a great time playing with the paper on the table. The back wall was the same color as her eyes and made them look really blue.
Trying some ice cream at Chick-fil-A. She loves it and wants more!!
She's beginning to clap when we clap about something she does good. Its so cute with her closed fists.
Kayla has grown so much developmentally and physically. She's eating babyfood better, just not as fast as I would want. She loves the oatmeal cearel and eats that every morning. I'm starting to add fruit in with it so she'll eat it better. Then, in the evening I try to feed her vegetables. Sh'e iffy about those. She doesn't eat as much as I want her to. My mom has suggested to start blending up real food to give it more texture and taste. I'll try anything, but I'm still not sure what I'm doing in that department. She'll eat the "puffs" that disolve in her mouth. She can pick them up and about 1/2 the time get one in her mouth by herself. She loves to reach for things in any position she's in. She can almost get into the crawling position then rock back and forth. She loves to pull up on the ottoman in the living room, but still needs a littile help and will fall and scream if you don't sit beside her. She's not saying anything new. Jut mama sometimes. She smiles at us alot more often and loves to play games. Nowdays, she's been a little whinny, b/c she cut 2 new teeth!! Sometimes that means not sleeping alot and getting up about 3 times some nights. They are the 2 teeth beside the 2 middle teeth on top. I don't know if these are know to be bad ones. It seems that they weren't as bad as the first ones. Hopefully, this trend will continue. Other than that, we are having a lot of fun getting to know her.

Mardi Gras & Valentine's Day

Kayla having fun on Valentine's Day.

We celebrated Valentine's Day at Chick-fil-A as a family. My mom came in town to see Kayla and had some quality Grandma time. This Chick-fil-A had candle-lit dinner and some guys playing guitar to have some soft music. It was fun to go out as a family for our first Valentine's Day. Kayla got a card and a cute Valentine's bear from Nan and Papaw.

We try to celebrate Mardi Gras every year as much as we can around here. Fayetteville always puts on a parade that goes to the downtown square. This year we were excited to bring Kayla along and she was the queen of the Mardi Gras (see her crown?) She actually had no idea what was going on and just was in awe of all the people the whole time. All the people in the parade wanted to give her beads. The weather was just right and we had a great time as a family.

Julie's wedding

Just wanted to share some pictures from my good friend's wedding on Jan. 12. It was fun to dress up Kayla and show her off. I think she likes her dress too.

Cousin Tristin in town

Chris, Brittany & Tristin.

Kayla is trying to get in the crawling position nowdays. She gets really frustrated and if I help her get on all fours, she can then lean back and get in the sitting position by herself. Not crawling yet though. She's more interested in pulling up on things. When she tries to move anywhere on her belly, she just goes backwards.

At TGI Friday's. This evening was a disaster for us, b/c Kayla was fussy the whole time and we couldn't even eat our food. We found out a couple of days later she had an ear infection. Then we found out that Tristin had one too. I guess these babies share everything. She also had a really bad rash around her mouth from dry skin and the pacifier rubbing. I'm so ready for the Spring to be here and get rid of all these sicknesses.

On Sunday morning. Ready to go to church.

Kayla's cousin Tristin came in town the last weekend in Jan. It was alot of fun to see them play together. We've already figured out that Kayla will be the little girly girl and Tristin will be the tom-boy or bully of the two. Kayla would just whine and cry over anything Tristin would do to her. It was fun to see how they were both different. We got to take proffesional pictures with both of them together while they are babies. It was so much fun.
