Busy Busy!!

Kayla is really holding her head up good and likes to watch TV when its on. I think she just likes the bright changing colors.

This is a time that she was knocked out on the recliner. She gets really tired now days and fights going to sleep. Today she was SCREAMING for about 10 minutes before she finally settled down. I was so proud of myself for not giving in and feeding her. I knew that it wasn't time for her to eat and she finally went to sleep in my arms at about 6:45 PM. I wonder if she'll wake up to feed again this evening?

After her evening bath. She is the cutest baby ever in her hooded towels. (I'm partial I guess)

Sorry I haven't posted a blog lately. I've been really busy with work, community group and day to day life with Kayla. We haven't really established a routine in the mornings. It really depends on when she wakes up. Chad brings her to day care and I'll pick her up around 4:20. They give me a report on what she does everyday like when her naps were, when and how much she ate and how many wet and dirty diapers she had. They also report her mood which is always "cheerful". I can 't wait to pick her up each day and long for the smile that she affectionately flashes at me. She's on a pretty steady schedule now that varies a little everyday. We're considering starting to put her down for the night at 7:00 b/c she always goes to sleep then and is tending to stay asleep longer at that time. Right now, we are starting her nightly bath at 9:00 and then feeding her to go down at about 9:45. Then she'll sleep for about 4-6 hours straight and goes back to sleep immediately when given a pacifier at night. The hope is that she'll sleep all through the night soon. She does now off and on.

She beginning to rollover for real now. Its easier to roll front to back than back to front. She gets frustrated with it easily and has to rest. She'll make it one day.

3 months old!!

Her 3 month old picture. I finally got her to smile while she's pushing up.

She loves to play with toys. We have a whole bin full in the living room now.

A picture from her semi-proffesional photo shoot.

Kayla is 3 months old today! I can't belive it, my little baby is growing up. She gets more precious and interactive everyday. She is holding her head up with no problem, holding onto objects spontaneously, cooing, smiling, and almost rolling over. We are trying more interactive toys with her. She just stares at the new Pooh Bear that Chad got her. She's interested in everything, but is very content with the world. We are very blessed to have Kayla. I really miss her during the day now that I'm at work. I can't wait to see what she'll do everyday.

Going to the Clubhouse

In her Sunday outfit having a good ole' time!! Like her new bow?

Kayla loves to look at her hands nowdays.

This past week was the first week that I went back to work and Kayla went to daycare (Caterpillar Clubhouse). A lot of prayers and worry has went into this decision, but in the end, it's the best for our family. Going back this week has confirmed for me that I love my work and its been nice getting away from the house this week. The first part of the week was rocky with tears and worry when we put Kayla in the daycare. She started out sleeping most of the day and waking up a lot at night. She really got off of her normal schedule this week. I realized that it was a "growth spurt" week too, so that explains a lot. We've all adjusted well. Our house is a lot more busy now days.
Kayla is sleeping through the night off and on nowdays. She's eating more at a time and I'm pretty much drying up my milk supply. We're just getting into a different stage of babyhood. It's going well for all of us.

2 month milestones

Smiling and cooing all the time now without us initiating it. We can have her in our lap and be looking at the TV and she'll look up and give us the biggest grin and say "A-goo". It just melts your heart.
Holding her head up is getting easier and allows her to check out everything around her. She loves to look around at new things in new places.

She's trying to roll over, but hasn't quite figured it out yet. She gets frustrated if she moves around alot and doesn't know where she's going. I try to help her out when I can to show her how to roll over.

Kayla's now grabing and holding onto things nowdays. Its still not very coordinated, but she's getting better. She'll bat at toys hanging above her head and squeals in delight when they make music b/c of her actions. I'm staring to offer soft and hard toys for her to hold and play with and she doesn't quite know what to do with them yet. Here she is holding cards as we play Rook with Chad's parents. She was quite attentive to the cards, until she got hungry.

We're in the process of getting Kayla on a schedule so that she'll sleep through the night. She is doing ok so far. BIG NEWS!! She slept through the night for the first time Sunday night, Sept 2, 2007. I however, couldn't sleep that night and had a bad night. It hasn't been consistent though. The night after, she woke up one other time and last night she woke up 2 other times. We're still working out the kinks. I used to feed her everytime she woke up during the night b/c I assumed that she was hungry, but this great book "On Becoming Baby Wise" tells me that we should just let her cry for 10 min. then go in to console her. I usually just go in, reposition her on her side, give her the pacifier, and play her lullaby music. That usually works and I only have to do it once each time she wakes up now days. The idea is for her to "self soothe" eventually so that she won't cry at night. We'll see what the nights ahead bring.
We have established a nightime routine and she goes to bed quite well nowdays around 10:00. We'll see how it goes when I go back to work next week full time.

Grandparents visit

Nan loves to read to Kayla

Papaw and Nan came to visit over Labor Day weekend. They loved holding, feeding and laughing with Kayla. She is now smiling and responding more, so they were loving that. We all went to Ft. Smith and drove through the "wonderful" downtown area of Van Buren, AR. We weren't impressed, but we did eat at a wonderful restaurant in Ft. Smith called Calico County. I will definately be back to eat that down home cookin goodness. We also grilled on Monday and mostly hung around the house. They helped us clean up our horrible, overgrown landscaping in front of our house. Thanks alot!! Kayla loved seeing her grandparents and hopes to see them again soon.

Goooo Razorbacks!!

This past Saturday we all went to the first Razorback game. We bought a tailgating spot this year, so we tailgated for about 3 hours before the game with Derek Horne and his crew. It was really fun and relaxing in the good weather. Kayla came out with us to tailgate, but was asleep most of the time until right before she had to leave. Chad's parents came to visit for Labor Day weekend and kept Kayla while we went to the game. We really missed her, but we'll wait till next year to bring her up in the mile high stadium seats that we have. Nevertheless, she looked really cute in her Razorback outfit, decked out with the onesie, booties, and pacifier.
