Sick but Happy

Kayla's crawling all over the house and getting into all the cabinets, under rugs and into every room. We like to "chase" her around the house and she gets really excited and tries to speed up when we crawl around behind her and try to "get" her. She's having so much fun playing with Buddy too. Here are some pictures of them interacting.
Kayla's saying "da-da" now after about 6 months of Chad desperately trying to get her to say it. Its really cute the way she looks when she says it and how she says it.
She's been really happy lately and fun to entertain.

Last week it was really challenging for me to entertain her b/c I was pretty sick feeling all week. I worked all of 1 1/2 days b/c I had a stomach virus and flu like symptoms through Friday morning. It was not fun b/c I didn't feel like doing anything. I layed on the couch a lot. Kayla had diarreah Monday too and even threw up Monday evening. Dr said it could be a stomach bug for her too and that I would probably get over it sooner than she did. That wasn't the case though. She was better by Tuesday evening. We both stayed home Tuesday and ate our bannanas and plenty of fluids. I went back to work Wednesday but was really tired and sick feeling that evening. The next morning I threw up but still went to work. They sent me home by 10:30 that day to recoup. I was able to clean the house enough to have it presentable for my in-laws to come in town Thursday. Friday was my day off anyway b/c we had a garage sale. We did pretty good and got rid of some stuff. I felt 100% better Friday evening when I had my only big meal of the week. We had a really nice time with Nan and Papaw this weekend and they had fun playing with Kayla. Now Chad is getting sick. (he was great to take care of me!!) Guess it all goes around when your living together.
This is the one and only time Kayla took her sippy cup. After this, she just thinks the cup is a game and gets upset if you offer it other than the bottle. I guess I could be more consistent with it. I'm also trying to get her to eat her vegetables. She loves finger foods and prefers them to any baby food. I'm trying to offer them first and she lets me know she doesn't want them by yelling alot during feeding time. I can't wait till she can tell me what she wants rather than just yelling.

10 months old!!

Our little baby is growing up so fast! 10 months sounds so old to me. She is the cutest and happiest she has ever been though and amazing us everyday. She wants to pull up on everything nowdays and explore the whole house. I'll show pictures later of Kayla and Buddy playing together too. They have fun chasing each other around the house. She's not as fast as he is though.

She is eating a lot better nowdays. Here, she is trying to eat the cedar chips in our newly redone landscape. I was trying to keep her from doing it and take a picture at the same time. I don't know if that is promoting it or not. Anyway, she is eating a lot more baby food. Not too keen on the 3rd foods, but would prefer to have finger foods, so I'm trying to offer a variety. She is now eating whole wheat bread, bananas, diced carrots, sweet peas, cheerios, and cheese. I'm working on a more variety. I've tried strawberries, but she didn't like them too much. She's not too keen on really sweet things. My next feat is the sippy cup. I am open to any advice on how to get them to take a sippy cup that you might have. I've offered a handful of times and she just plays with it. I guess I've not been consistent. One thing at a time though. She just got over another ear infection. I'm wondering if ear tubes are in our future. I'm thinking of going to the ENT Dr. if and when she gets another one. Other than that, she's doing great and is a happy little baby.
This past weekend was one of the few weekends I didn't have plans but to have fun with Kayla and preferably outside. Well, mother nature had a different plan to make it in the 40s the whole weekend. On Sunday, I was determined to get out of the house, so we bundled up everyone and went to the local park. It was really sad, b/c we had to wake Kayla up when we got there to play on the playground equiptment. She liked the swings and the slide, but it was really cold and we stayed about 5 minutes. Maybe we'll have a better experience next time.

Bundled up in April!!
She has been walking a lot more lately. She loves to walk with her "walker", but still doesn't go very straight. Its exciting to see her walk by herself!!

More Cute pics

One evening when Kayla and I were together, I fed her babyfood around 6:00. She took a little more than usual (about 2 jars). She was acting sleepy when I gave it to her and I put her in the jumper b/c I had some chores to do around the house. She was in it about 10 minutes when I walk in the room and find her fast asleep. Of course I had to wake her up and give her a bath before putting her to bed. I hated to wake her though. She was so cute!!
The jumper is nice to use again for different reasons. At first we got it to get her moving, now I put her in it to keep her in one place when I need to do things around the house. Nowdays, she's everywhere and we really have to keep up with her.
This was a cute pic in her carseat on the way to my sisters for Tristin's B-day party. I had fun showing off her new monogramed bubble suit. She getting to be quite the looker I think.
Her first real experience with throwing a ball. Notice the bewildered look.
Wearing PaPa's leather hat. Yeah, it didn't stay on very long.
Passed out on the way home from Monroe. She does fairly well traveling back during the day for 7 hours. She gets pretty fussy in Little Rock (about halfway). Thats were all the traffic is too and it gets pretty stressful. We just have to pull over and give her a bottle and its all good.

Super Kayla!!

So, Kayla has a new trick that her Auntie Cathy taught her to throw her hands up and make a really funny face. She does this when she's playing or just happy. Here she's doing it at dinner time with daddy. If you proceed to do it with her, she'll do it several times and imitate you. It is the cutest thing. I always wonder what Aunt Cathy will teach her each time we go home.

Cousin Allison is teaching her at Grandma's house. She plays with these rattles everytime she goes to Grandma's house and LOVES them. She won't put them down the whole time. We had a great time that night playing with Kayla. She is really loved when we go home and gets a lot of attention and playing time with family.

She loves playing with her blocks. Such an intense face!!!

This is Kayla with Aunt Cathy who loves to play with "her Kayla". Kayla was blowing "pooting" noises all night that night. For a while, she was doing it non stop.

Tristin's Birthday (my niece)

We went to Monroe (Bastrop) for my niece's 1st birthday party last weekend, April 5th. I can't believe its been a year already. She is growing up fast, just walking all over the place and talking up a storm. She's as crazy as ever and I love her for it. My sister put on a great party and it went really good. She got a lot of outdoor gifts, bath toys, a dolly, teaset to put on her new table and chairs, a soft big chair and a lot of clothes. She didn't know what to think of the cake at first, but once she got a taste she dove right in. We had a good time with family and seeing all the babies.

Yummy, Yum, Yum
The aftermath of the cake. She didn't dive all in, but still did some damage.
Chris and Tristin after the cake. She was getting pretty tired b/c she didn't have a nap before the party. She was really good the whole time and didn't really know what to think of all the comotion. We all had a really good time outside.

Cousins having fun together
It was so good to have all the family girl babies together since they all live in different states. Far left is my cousin's baby Aleta (6 months) who was born about October last year. They live in Texas and I was so excited that they could come to the party and they could meet Kayla and I could meet their baby. We could never get all three babies to look at the camera. This as good as it gets.
Kayla was all tukered out after the party from all of the fun and fell asleep on the couch in Daddy's arms.

We got this picnic table for Tristin. Hopefully the girls can enjoy it together many times.
The babies were having fun on the playplace that Tristin got for her birthday. Man, that baby sure did rack up on gifts and she doesn't even know it.
Love all the faces that they can make. It was so cute seeing them together. He was even pushing Kayla in the swing at one time.

The weather turned out good for an outside party. It got up to the low 70s but chilly still some of the time. The babies had a great time and we had a great time taking pictures of them together.
Kayla didn't know what to think about the swing. She was pretty indifferent, being this is the first time in a swing alone.
